Jay (Mark Rylance) and Claire (Kerry Fox) are total strangers but every Wednesday they meet to have sex. Passionate, wordless, and until Jay begins to follow her home, seemingly meaningless sex.

Being the manger of a trendy bar and recently split from his wife and young family, Jay's days are long and lonely. Claire's visits fit in with his new life perfectly. But the more he finds out about her the more he discovers she has a life of her own and that she is the one in fact using him.

Set against the harsh exteriors of London life, Patrice Patrice Chreau (La Reine Margot) and Hanif Kureishi (My Beautiful Laundrette) combine here to make a memorable film with a truly European feel.
