“Does for the great singer what Amadeus did for Mozart” - The Times
“Artistry abounds in every aspect of the film” - Los Angeles Times
“A lush, engrossing drama” - Stephen Farber, Movieline
Based on the fascinating life of Farinelli  the most famous castrato opera singer of the 18th Century. Farinelli (Stefano Dionisi) and his composer brother Riccardo (Enrico Lo Verso) toured the Royal Courts of Europe performing for the nobility, the two brothers shared everything including their women. Riccardo would sleep with all of Farinelli’s girlfriends whilst hiding the truth behind Farinelli’s castration from him.

Farinelli admired the works of Handel (Jeroen Krabbe) and a young girl, Alexandra (Elsa Zylberstein) recognising this, steals his latest work in order to express her love for Farinelli. Farinelli breaks up his partnership with Riccardo. Riccardo is devastated and pours his heart out to Handel. For three years Farinelli finds peace in selfimposed exile with Alexandra. Riccardo returns and old wounds are opened up.

A stunning tale of rivalry and obsession, set amid the baroque extravagance of European courts and opera houses. This production lavishly recreates the musical phenomenon - Farinelli.
