[U] "A perfectly cast Fred Astaire... a charming old-fashioned musical" - Radio Times "A song-filled blend of dance and fantasy for romantics of all ages" - DVD Times
Daddy Long Legs is a new-to-DVD release, featuring the talents of Fred Astaire and Leslie Caron.
American millionaire Astaire is the unknown benefactor of Franch orphan girl Caron, financing the girl's education on the proviso that his identity never revealed to her. Moved by Caron's letter of thanks Astaire's secretary Thelma Ritter advises to go to France to visit the "child". When he arrives, he finds that his ward has grown up rather nicely, and the two fall in love, though Caron never learns (until the very end) who Astaire really is.
Highlights include a solo ballet by Caron and a wonderful Astaire routine involving a set of drums. The score includes the classic Johnny Mercer "Something's Gotta Give".
